Agility Trains and DfT reach financial close on Intercity Express Programme (IEP) East Coast Main Line fleet

The UK Department for Transport (DfT) and Agility Trains East (with its shareholders Hitachi Rail Europe and John Laing Investments) today confirmed financial close for the East Coast Main Line fleet of trains for the DfT's Intercity Express Programme (IEP). Today's announcement therefore marks the successful raising of all the finance required to deliver the IEP.

Class 800 is based on the highly successful Class 395 Javelin™ trains

Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd. today welcomed the announcement by the Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin to replace the current train fleet on the East Coast Main Line with Hitachi Class 800 series trains in a £1.2bn deal.

Government gives green light for more state-of-the-art intercity trains

£1.2 billion deal to transform rail travel on East Coast Main Line. Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has today (18 July 2013) confirmed a £1.2 billion order for more state-of-the-art trains to transform rail travel on one of Britain’s busiest intercity routes.
